Congratulations Toby Chilcott

Congratulations to Toby Chilcott. Toby, a Newport Water Polo Junior player, took part in the Inter Regional Under 14 Championships (aged 11) last weekend as part of the West Midlands team. He and his team played 4 matches in the group stages, finishing 2nd in the group behind North East Steelers who they lost to in the group stages 5 - 2. In the Semi-finals, Toby's team took on London and beat them 8 - 6, leaving the team to play North East Steelers (who won the other semi-final) in the final.  Toby helped his team pull through the final to beat the North East Steelers and win the match 5 - 1 and the Championship. A great effort Toby, we are all very proud of you at Newport.

Arena League-Round 1
The City of Newport Swimming club re-entered the National Swimming Arena League this year for the first time in 5 years. On Saturday 14th October we travelled to Hutton Moor to compete in the first round. For those of you who have never witnessed an Arena League it is a very fast and furious competition, completing 50 events, which are a mix of relays and individuals, in about 2 hours. Newport came away from the 1st round with a stylish win, beating 2nd place by in excess of 100 points, winning 38 out of 50 events.
The second round will also be at Hutton Moor on Saturday 11th November, where we hope to display another dominant performance to put us in a strong position for the final where we will fight for promotion to the first Division.

Club Championships - Friday Evening Session

It is with regret that following the short notice withdrawal of three referees from the officials for Friday evening that this sessions is now cancelled..

The Club have explored a range of possible options to afford Swimmers the opportunity to swim either the 800 m or 1500 m events in the next few weeks. We have looked at others days and equally using other Club Champs from local clubs to see if we could piggy back. However, in reality we are left with the least worst option.

We will therefore reschedule the 800 m and 1500 m events to follow on from the planned session following a short break on Sunday 1 October 2017. Any swimmer who wishes to withdraw as a result of the required change will receive a refund.

Apologies for the disruption caused by this late notice change. The Club will do all it can to make the best of the current situation and we appreciate your understanding in this matte
