National Arena Swimming League - Division 1 Western League Final

Congratulations to all of our City Of Newport Swimming stars who competed in the Western Regional Final of the National Arena Swimming League at Newport International Sports Village, and also to those who have helped us to achieve this in rounds 1 & 2.

In an event that saw us have a few dropouts and last minute changes for many reasons, we approached the event positively, knowing that we would do our best to raise our game together as one team.

We aimed to work on 3 key points during this event and collectively the team smashed it and won the event today. This also means the City of Newport Swimming Club after winning all 3 rounds have won the Division One Western League and have gained promotion into next years Premier League.

Massive well done to all of the swimmers, we had many tough races, and hurdles to overcome during the event and our swimmers rose to the challenge every time and surpassed expectations to finish 13 points ahead, in the end, clinching the victory.

1st = City of Newport 306
2nd = Torfaen Dolphins 293
3rd = Street & District 232
4th = Newton Abbot 222
5th = Severnside 215
6th = Seagulls 205
7th = West Dorset 164
8th = Paignton 157

There were far too many great swims to mention as we don't want to miss anyone out. However, we would like to thank all of our swimmers for their efforts, and glad they achieve the reward they deserved.

Through all of the rounds our officials, and supporting parents have been fab, big thanks to you guys. Thank you to James, Matt, Sarah, and Steve for steering the team through today's event on poolside. Thanks to our swimming Strength & Conditioning Coach Pat Foley of Higher Degree Sports & Personal Conditioning for running our dry land preparation.

Also a huge thank you to two of our swimmers (Ella Deakin & Mackenzie Johnston) who rocked up today, not in the team swimming, but shown perfect team spirit in doing all of the face painting, and keeping all of the swimmers upbeat and on point throughout the whole event. Girls, you were fab, well done and thank you.

Premier League here we come 😀
