When entering competitions swimmers need to bring swimming costumes and swimming wetsuits. Depending on the temperature on the day, officials will make the decision whether swimming costumes, swimming wetsuits or swimmer’s choice of either will be enforced. Some competitions insist on the costumes/wetsuits being FINA approved.
Join us at Plas y Brenin for a day of open water swim training aimed at everyone from beginner outdoor swimmers right through to established open water swimmers.
Get dedicated swim coaching to improve your confidence and technique under the supervision of Swim Wales and H20open coaching. Learn about the benefits of open water swimming and get to know techniques for getting kitted up, acclimatising to the water, and staying safe while you swim. There will be activities for children aged 11-17, and the option to book them on to a supervised paddle boarding session while you're in the water. Tea and coffee will be free all day for participants and hot soup will be provided at lunch.
To take part you should already be a fairly confident swimmer indoors - as a guide we say able to swim 10 lengths of a standard swimming pool continuously. If you have any questions regarding this please get in touch.
