Arena League 2024/2025

The National Arena Swimming League is a nationwide competition with 6 regional leagues - East Midlands, London, North West , South, West Midlands and Western.

City Of Newport has participated in the past and in 2024 after a break of a few years has joined the competition in the Western league, First Division.

Rounds 1 and 2 in October and November 2024 determine which teams will be in the regional league Round 3 final in December.

From the result of that final, the top six teams from each of the six leagues, making 36 teams in all, are entered into a virtual gala. The winner and runner-up of each league are guaranteed a place in the Finals weekend. The other eight places are determined through a virtual gala. more information

The finals weekend takes place in Cardiff in March 2025.

Dates, Venues and Races

Round 1 : 12 October 2024, Hutton Moor

Round 2 : 9 November 2024, Newport

Round 3 : 14 December 2024, Newport

Events for the Western region take place at Hutton Moor Leisure Centre (Weston-Super-Mare), Plymouth and Newport. The draw for each round happens relatively close to the date of each round, for example the line-ups for Round 2 are only finalised after Round 1 has taken place.

Round 1

37 swimmers from City Of Newport took part in Round 1 on 12th October at Hutton Moor Leisure Centre, competing against 7 other teams in Division One.

City Of Newport ended the day with a fantastic result in the Hutton Moor gala, second place on 313 points just 2 points behind Millfield B. This was the third highest points total across all three Division One galas.
